Chad Deering (born September 2, 1970 in Garland , Texas , USA ) is a former American football player .

Deering grew up in Garland, Texas, and was a successful soccer player in high school . At the age of 16, he was called up to the United States U-16 national team for the 1987 U-16 World Cup . He later played at Indiana University .

In 1990 he was one of the first Americans to make the leap to Germany. Between 1990 and 1993 he played for the amateurs of Werder Bremen , in 1993 he moved to FC Schalke 04 for a year , where he played his first six Bundesliga games. In 1994 he played for a year in Norway with Rosenborg BK and then as an amateur with Kickers Emden .

From 1996 to 1998 he first played in the 2nd Bundesliga at VfL Wolfsburg . Here he made promotion with the club and also played in the Bundesliga . For Wolfsburg he scored five goals in 41 games.

The end of his career formed the FC Dallas , for which he played between 1998 and 2003 in the Major League Soccer . Here he completed 163 games in which he scored 16 goals. He then switched to indoor football.

Deering also made 18 full internationals for the United States , scoring one goal. He played a game at the 1998 World Cup .
