Chafika Bensaoula

Chafika Bensaoula ( Arabic شفيقة بن صاولة, DMG Šafīqa Bin Ṣāwula ) is an Algerian lawyer and lecturer . From 2017 to 2023 she is a judge at the African Court of Human Rights and the Rights of the Peoples (ACHPR) of the African Union (AU).

Bensaoula held various positions in the courts and in administration. Among other things, she was a judge at the Algerian Court of Appeal . She is currently a lecturer in public law .

Bensaoula was elected in January 2017 for a six-year term as judge at the African Court of Human Rights and the Rights of the Peoples in Arusha , Tanzania .

Bensaoula speaks Arabic , French and English .
