Chairon by Pellene
Chairon ( Greek Χαίρων Chaírōn ) was a Greek follower of Alexander the Great and tyrant of Pellene , also a famous wrestler and follower of the philosophy of the Platonic Academy . He lived in the 4th century BC. Chr.
Chairon was a student of Plato and Xenocrates and made a name for himself as an athlete as a two-time winner of the Isthmian and four-time winner of the Olympic Games . Before the year 331 BC He was installed as a tyrant in his hometown of Pellene by the Macedonian general Korrhagos , and as such drove out the noble citizens and granted the slaves civil rights. In this capacity he kept the city loyal to the Corinthian League and its Macedonian hegemon during the Mouse War .
