Chalky Wright
Chalky Wright (* 1. February 1912 in Los Angeles , California USA ; † 12. August 1957 ) was an American boxer in the featherweight .
professional
On September 11, 1941, he competed against his compatriot Joey Archibald for the NBA world championship and defeated him in a 15-round battle by technical knockout in round 11. He defended this title against Harry Jeffra and Lulu Costantino . On November 20, 1942, he lost it to Willie Pep .
In 1997 Wright was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame . He was also included in the list of the 100 best puncher of all time by Ring Magazine in 2003 and came in 95th place.
