Joey Archibald (* 20th February 1914 in Providence , Rhode Iceland , † 3. February 1998 ) was an American boxer in the featherweight . He was managed by Al Weill and trained by Charley Goldman .

Professional career

He made his professional debut against Ernest Hebert on April 29, 1932. In October 1939 he defeated his compatriot Mike Belloise over 15 rounds by majority decision and thus won the vacant world championship belt of the former association NYSAC . On April 14 of the following year, with a unanimous victory on points against Leo Rodak , also a compatriot of his, the NBA world title was added.

On May 20, 1940, he lost the NYSAC belt to Harry Jeffra . He was also stripped of the NBA title in the same year. However, he was able to win the NYSAC world title for the second time on May 12, 1941, when he defeated Jeffra in a rematch by majority decision. In September of that year he lost the belt to Chalky Wright.
