Charley Goldman

Charley Goldman (born December 22, 1887 in Warsaw , Poland as Israel Goldman , † November 11, 1968 ) was a Polish boxer and boxing coach. He was the first coach of the so far only undefeated world heavyweight champion Rocky Marciano (49-43-0).

As a boxer, he competed in the bantamweight division . As a coach, he is considered one of the best of all time. In addition to the extremely powerful Marciano, he trained Lou Ambers , Joey Archibald , Kid Gavilán , Al McCoy , Carlos Ortiz , Marty Servo , Jersey Joe Walcott , Fritzie Zivic , Tony Alongi , Oscar Bonavena , Cesar Brion , Rory Calhoun , Walter Cartier , Bob Cleroux , Arturo Godoy , Richie Howard and Johnny Risko .
