The Chamar is a mountain in the Himalayas in the Nepalese administrative region of Gandaki not far from the border with the autonomous region of Tibet .
The Chamar is a glaciated mountain forms the highest point in the Serang Himal , a mountain group of the Himalayas. The main peak of the Chamar has a height of 7165 m . The next higher mountains are in the Ganesh Himal, 25 km southeast . The eight-thousander Manaslu is 37.5 km further west.
In addition to the main summit, the Chamar also has the southern summit (also Shringi ) ( 7161 m ⊙ ) one kilometer to the south . Its notch height is 261 m. The state border lies on a secondary summit 2.8 km to the north.
Ascent history
The main summit of the Chamar was first climbed by a New Zealand expedition in 1953.
The southern summit is still considered unclimbed .
