Champ or Cramp

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Champ Or Cramp" ( German : "Siegen or Krampfen" ) is the name of an annual Austrian ski mountaineering competition on the Goldeck near Spittal an der Drau . The ski touring race goes over the longest black descent in the Alps .

The participants come from Austria and neighboring countries. The three categories of professionals ( elite ), amateurs ( champ ) and amateur runners ( hobby ) are evaluated . There is also a team rating for the participating groups of four.

The start is from the mountain station on Goldeck. This total route length is around 17 km, divided into descent and ascent, with around 1,700  meters of altitude to be overcome.

In addition to the cash prizes for the best professional participants and the material prizes for the best participants in the other categories, each participant will be awarded the “Finisher - Champ or Cramp” medal. The male and female winners will be immortalized on a challenge cup, which goes to the winner after three wins.

particularities

For 2007 the route had to be changed due to the unfavorable snow conditions ("north descent"; 1,200 meters in altitude).

Best of the year (single)

The course record has been held by Andreas Ringhofer since 2006 with 1h 16min 56sec.
