Chappuis (noble family)
The von Chappuis family come from French-speaking Switzerland and were of bourgeois origin.
history
The family appears for the first time in 1401 in Rivaz on Lake Geneva, where it has appeared under the name de la Combaz or Combaz, known as Chappuis, since 1493. The German line begins with Francois Louis Chappuis (de la Combaz), who came to Prussia in 1782 , entered the Prussian military service and was raised to the Prussian hereditary nobility on January 8, 1794 with the rank of major while simultaneously improving the coat of arms .

The coat of arms of 1797 shows within a golden shield border in blue an upright silver crossbow covered with red feathered silver arrows, accompanied by two silver stars below. A silver star on the helmet with blue and silver covers . The shield is surrounded by two green branches. Head of shield: two inward-looking bare angels with silver wings.
