Charles Barkel
Charles Alvinus Barkel (born February 2, 1898 in Stugun , † March 7, 1973 in Stockholm ) was a Swedish violinist and music teacher.
Barkel studied at the Royal Music Academy in Stockholm and with Carl Flesch in Berlin. In 1918 he made his debut as a soloist and gave numerous concerts on tours through Europe. From 1928 to 1935 he played as principal violinist with the Stockholm Symphony Orchestra . In 1938 he founded the Barkel Quartet , a chamber music ensemble. From 1926 he worked as a violin teacher at the Stockholm Music Academy , and from 1931 as a teacher for ensemble playing in the same position. Barkel has been a member of the Kungl since 1946 . Musikaliska Academies in Stockholm. In 1947 he was appointed professor.
