Charles Derriey

Charles Derriey , (born August 17, 1808 in Moissey , Département Jura , † February 11, 1877 in Paris ), was a French die cutter , typographer , printer and type founder .

Derriey trained as a typographer in Besancon , making himself the engraver , stamp cutter and type founder from. In addition, he developed and built his own machines in his workshop, which was built in 1839, such as a rotary press , a numbering machine for banknotes and a musical note type system.

Derriey has enriched the printing company with an extraordinary number of artistically perfect borders and decorations as well as with numerous assortments of decorative fonts. The "album" published by him , with his works, is considered a masterpiece of typography .
