Charles Eugster

Charles Marin E. Eugster (born July 26, 1919 in London ; † April 26, 2017 ibid) was a British - Swiss dentist who, after retiring, practiced intensive senior sports and set world records in the respective age categories.

biography

Eugster began rowing in 1938 on the St Paul's School team . Eugster had been a dentist until he was 75, after which he edited a medical journal for seven years. At this point, Eugster had reached the upper limit of the age bracket in rowing . From 2000 to 2010 he had always won a gold medal at every age group World Rowing Masters Regatta , in 2013 at 94 years of age he was the oldest participant in the world championships, in 2012 Eugster had won a medal there.

Eugster also holds the world record in the 400-meter run outdoors and the indoor world record over 200 meters with 55.48 seconds in the over-95 age group. In 2013 he was world champion in the fitness decathlon. He died in 2017 at the age of 97.
