Charles Guillaume Alexandre Bourgeois
Charles Guillaume Alexandre Bourgeois (born December 16, 1759 in Amiens , † May 7, 1832 in Paris ) was a French painter and physicist .
As a painter he is well known for his camaieus and some of his portraits are in the Musée du Louvre . As a physicist, he did research in the field of optics . His two main works are:
- Leçons expérimentales d'optique sur la lumière et les couleurs destinées à rétablir dans leur intégrité les faits dénaturés par Newton (1816–1817)
- Manuel d'optique expérimentale à l'usage des artistes et des physiciens (1821).
