Charles Kaufman (screenwriter)
Charles Kaufman (born October 20, 1904 in Paterson , New Jersey ; died May 2, 1991 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American screenwriter .
Life
Kaufman appeared as a screenwriter since 1937.
For his screenplay for Esther Costello , Kaufman was nominated for the British Academy Film Award in the category Best Screenplay in 1958 .
In 1963 he and Wolfgang Reinhardt were nominated for an Oscar in the Best Original Screenplay category for their work on the film Freud . After this production, Kaufman no longer appeared as a screenwriter.
He died of complications from pneumonia.
