Charles Sutton
Charles Sutton , (born March 6, 1756 in Norwich , † May 28, 1846 in Tombland, Norwich) was a British clergyman and botanist. Its official botanical author's abbreviation is " Sutton ".
Live and act
Sutton received his bachelor's degree from Cambridge in 1779 and his doctorate in theology (DD) in 1806. In 1791 he became a member of the Linnean Society of London (ALS). Sutton was a protgé of the botanist John Pitchford (1737-1803).
Sutton was an expert on summer sausages and published a monograph on it in 1798 with the Linnean Society. He first described the Great Summer Arum ( Orobanche elatior ).
Honors
The genus Suttonia A. Rich. from the primrose family (Primulaceae) is named after him.
