Charles William Winnington-Ingram

Charles William Winnington-Ingram ( June 7, 1850 , † 1923 ) was a British Rear Admiral .

Life

Charles William Winnington-Ingram was one of ten children of Reverend Edward Winnington-Ingram and his wife Maria Louisa, daughter of Bishop Henry Pepys . The future Bishop of London Arthur Winnington-Ingram was his younger brother. Winnington-Ingram's father was the second son of Reverend Edward Winnington-Ingram. This in turn was a son of Sir Edward Winnington, 2nd Baronet and had Ingram added to the family name in 1817.

Winnington-Ingram served in the Royal Navy . Later in his career, he received the rank of captain . In 1910 he retired and received the rank of rear admiral. His uncle Herbert Frederick Winnington-Ingram was Rear Admiral in the Royal Navy.

On February 6, 1894, he married Ida Vere Maude Chambers († 1945). Several children were born from the marriage. The British classical philologist Reginald Pepys Winnington-Ingram was one of his sons.
