Charles de Villeneuve de Vence (* 1645 ; † May 2, 1702 in Vence ) was Bishop of Glandèves from 1686 to 1702 .

Life

Charles de Villeneuve was a son of Claude de Villeneuve († 1666), 21st Baron of Vence, and Catherine de Grasse; he was probably born after 1640, his parents' marriage date, at Villeneuve Castle in Vence . He received a canonical at the Cathedral of Vence , received his doctorate in theology and in 1684 became provost of the Cathedral of Grasse , but two years later he left the income to the nominated bishop, François Verjus , who united it with the episcopal canteen. In 1682 he represented the ecclesiastical province of Embrun at the National Council, which passed the four Gallican articles (→ Gallicanism ) as a deputy of the second estate .
