Charlotte Mercier
Charlotte Mercier (born 1738 in London ; died 1762 ) was a British painter .
Life
Charlotte Mercier was the daughter of the Berlin-born portrait painter Philippe Mercier (1691–1760), who was of Huguenot descent, and the Englishwoman Dorothy Clapham. She also specialized as a portraitist. Little is known about their life. In the National Museum of Women in the Arts (Washington) , two of their works are: Madeleine Marie Agathe Renée de la Bigotière de Perchambault and Olivier-Joseph Le Gonidec , both from 1757 carried out and in pastels. The National Portrait Gallery in London owns her work: Miss playing with Cup and Ball .
