Charlotte Theile

Charlotte Theile (* 1987 in Saxony ) is a German- Swiss journalist and author . She was the Swiss correspondent for the Süddeutsche Zeitung and editor of the time . She produces and moderates the Breakup podcast.

Life

Theile studied politics and economics in Aachen and Bern . In 2011 and 2012 she was an editorial assistant in the ZDF studio in Erfurt . From 2012 she worked for the Süddeutsche Zeitung: from 2012 to 2014 as a trainee, then she worked in the business editorial department before she was posted to Zurich in autumn 2014 . From 2014 to 2018 she reported from Switzerland and Liechtenstein as a correspondent for the Süddeutsche Zeitung . From January to March 2019 she wrote the column "We out there" for the Tages-Anzeiger . In 2019 she was editor of ZEIT im Osten in Leipzig. Since 2016 she has been a regular guest on various radio programs on Swiss radio and television .

Theile is the author of the non-fiction book “Can the AfD be stopped? Switzerland as a model for the new right ”, published in 2017 by Rotpunktverlag . In the book she analyzes the political developments in Germany and Switzerland and the similarities and (personal) connections between the Alternative für Deutschland and the Swiss People's Party .

She regularly teaches in various media projects at the Zurich high school in Rämibühl and gives seminars for young journalists.

In 2017 she was awarded the Age Publication Prize for her article “The New Hostel Grandparents”.

Since November 2019 she has been producing the podcast "Breakup - The podcast about breaking up", in which she interviews people about their breakups.
