Charops (father of Oiagros)
Charops ( Greek Χάροψ ) is a Thracian in Greek mythology , the father of Oiagros and grandfather of Orpheus .
Charops informs Dionysus of the imminent nocturnal assassination attempt by the Thracian king Lycurgus during his campaign of conquest against Thrace . After the victory over Lycurgus and his death, Charops was installed as king of Thrace by Dionysus out of gratitude and initiated into the Bakchian ordinations, which he passed on to his successors Oiagros and Orpheus.
