Chelesta is a five-piece Leipzig music band with rock, pop and jazz elements.

history

Chelesta was founded in 2000 as the "tacheles klezmer company". In 2004 the re-formation and renaming in "chelesta" followed (the band name is an anagram of tacheles ). The band combines Eastern European musical tradition with jazz , rock , hip-hop , klezmer and reggae using tuba , saxophone , accordion , clarinet, trumpet, drums and vocals. Since 2005 the band has been working regularly with Jens-Paul Wollenberg as ex.ces.
