Chemours is an American chemical company that was spun off from DuPont in mid-2015 . It includes DuPont's titanium dioxide , refrigerant (HFC), fluoropolymer (PFPE, PTFE), sulfuric acid and cyanide businesses .

history

From the outset, Chemours suffered from falling prices for its main product, titanium dioxide. As a result, the company sold $ 700 million in assets in 2016 and closed its chlor-alkali electrolysis facility in Niagara Falls, NY. At the end of 2015, the sale of an aniline plant in Beaumont, Texas to Dow Chemical was announced. Chemours only keeps one aniline plant in Pascagoula, Mississippi . In 2016, the cleaning and disinfectant business was sold to Lanxess and the sulfur chemicals business unit was sold to Veolia  North America.
