The Chenal Buffon ( French ) is a strait in the Géologie archipelago off the coast of the East Antarctic Adélieland . It separates the Pétrel Island in the west from the Buffon Islands and Lamarck Island in the east.
French scientists named them in 1977, probably based on the naming of the neighboring archipelago. It is named after the French naturalist Georges-Louis Leclerc de Buffon (1707–1788).
