Friedrich Katter

Friedrich Karl Albert Katter (born December 11, 1842 in Groß-Bünzow , † April 22, 1913 in Lugano ) was a German teacher and entomologist .

Life

Friedrich Karl Albert Katter studied mathematics, natural sciences and modern languages ​​at the universities of Greifswald and Berlin after receiving his secondary school leaving certificate in Anklam and was later awarded a Dr. phil. PhD . Michaelis In 1869 he was employed as a scientific assistant teacher at the Progymnasium and later grammar school in Dramburg and after passing the examen pro facultate docendi in 1870. Michaelis in 1873 he was transferred to the Putbus pedagogy . Katter was appointed senior teacher Michaelis in 1886 and professor at Easter 1893. Michaelis he retired in 1907 and has since lived in Moritzburg in the Kingdom of Saxony and later in Groß-Lichterfelde near Berlin.

As an entomologist, he worked on the genus Meloe from the family of the oil beetle (Meloidae) and was the first to describe the taxon Meloe carnicus Katter in 1885.

In 1875 he founded the specialist journal Entomologische Nachrichten , which he edited until mid-1884 and which was then continued by Ferdinand Karsch .

On February 7, 1881, Friedrich Karl Albert Katter was accepted as a member ( matriculation no. 2303 ) of the German Academy of Natural Scientists Leopoldina .

On the occasion of his retirement in 1907 he was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle, 4th class.
