Ascent history
In 1990 the Briton Alan Burgess attempted the first ascent of the Cheo Himal. On the southeast ridge at an altitude of 6250 m Dawa Wangchu Sherpa crashed 800 meters in depth. Thereupon the attempt to climb was canceled.
The first ascent of the Cheo Himal was finally achieved in the following year by a Japanese-Nepalese expedition. On October 13, 1992 the Japanese Shigeki Imoto reached the summit together with the Nepalese Tshering Sherpa, Ful Bahadur Rai and Dambar Bahadur Gurung. The ascent route led over the southeast ridge to the summit.
