Chester House

Chester House is a villa in the Scottish port of Eyemouth in the Scottish Borders Council Area . In 1971 the structure was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A. Furthermore, it is part of a category B monument ensemble. Not to be confused with Chesters House, which is also located in the Scottish Borders .

The two story villa is located on Church Street in central Eyemouth. It was built in the middle of the 18th century. The west-facing front along Church Street is symmetrical and five axes wide. The central entrance door is accessible via a front staircase. The elongated door is designed with an architrave and crowning cornices on consoles . The natural stone surrounds of the lattice windows are raised compared to the quarry stone facade. A grooved cornice runs beneath the slate-covered gable roof . The gable end chimneys were partially rebuilt. Remains of a former Harl plaster can be found on its sides . The interior is decorated with contemporary wood paneling and a staircase with a balustrade .
