Chiang C. Mei

Chiang Chung Mei (born April 4, 1935 in Wuhan ) is an American civil engineer.

Mei received his bachelor's degree from Taiwan National University in 1955 , his master's degree from Stanford University in 1958, and his doctorate in engineering from Caltech in 1963 . In 1965 he became an assistant professor and later professor of civil engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology .

He is particularly concerned with hydrodynamics and the mechanics of water waves.

Since 1992 he has been an honorary professor at the University of Hong Kong. In 1994 he was at the Mechanics Institute of the Academy of Sciences in Beijing.

In 2007 he received the Von Karman Medal . He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering .
