Chicago Assyrian Dictionary

The Chicago Assyrian Dictionary (CAD) or The Assyrian Dictionary of the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago is a project at the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago with the aim of compiling a dictionary of the Akkadian language and its dialects with a focus on Neo-Assyrian forms. It is based on the Oxford English Dictionary . The work began in 1921 by James Henry Breasted who contributed to the dictionary of the Egyptian language . Erica Reiner was the main editor from 1973 to 1996, followed by Martha T. Roth . The last, 26th part was only published in 2011 (Volume 20 U / W)
