from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Chick Publications is an American publisher operated by Jack T. Chick (1924-2016). Chick produces and distributes evangelical tracts , DVDs , VCDs , videotapes , books, and posters . The best-known products are the Chick tracts , short comics that appear in many languages. Although some comics portray views that are generally accepted in theology, such as the doctrine of the Incarnation of God , some are highly controversial. Above all, Chick is known for his decidedly anti-Catholic attitude and the dissemination of related conspiracy theories , which are the subject of twenty tracts and several comic books alone. Among other things, Chick accuses the Catholic Church of being led by the devil with the establishment of Islam as a bogus religion, and the support or even creation of National Socialism, Communism and Freemasonry. Other frequent topics are the deception of humans by demons and other religions, salvation from hell regardless of good deeds only through recognition of Jesus Christ as Savior, creationism and the associated refutation of the theory of evolution in particular and science in general, and condemnation through homosexuality .

Chick Publications is headquartered in Ontario, California . Most comic book tracts and some excerpts from longer comics can be read for free on the Chick website. However, some of the particularly controversial issues are not available. Many older comics are no longer printed, but Chick Publications has them reprinted for large orders of usually 10,000 copies.

Chick tracts

The comics cover topics such as the last things, or they describe a conflict between a Christian and a non-Christian to get a message across. Many chick tracts end in conversion or conversion . Also included are recommendations for a Christian lifestyle. Most comics end with a suggested prayer for the reader to say in order to accept Christ as Savior. In publications, as agitation against Catholicism (about Are Roman Catholics Christian? , The Death Cookie , Why Is Mary Crying? ), The Hinduism , the Buddhism , the Islam or the Freemasonry are intended, prayer includes a corresponding twist to renounce the teachings of this church or these religions.

Jack Chick drew many of his comics himself, others were penned by Fred Carter (the latter are usually graphically more sophisticated). The publisher's website lists more than 150 comic tracts. All of them can be read online, but other materials can only be read in extracts. According to the company, some of them have been translated into almost 100 languages and several hundred million comics have been displayed in places such as churches around the world. The most popular comic book, This Was Your Life (dt. Title This was your life ), is not only available in many languages, but also with protagonists from different ethnic backgrounds such. B. Afro-American, Chinese, Korean, Thai, etc. Many comics have also appeared in German.

Controversy

The Catholic Answers Magazine led several of Chick Publications widespread conspiracy to Catholics, including, the Roman Catholic Church had Abraham Lincoln murdered and the Ku Klux Klan founded. Later she supported Hitler , Mussolini and Franco to get under Pope Pius XII. to be able to establish a "millennial kingdom". The name of every Protestant worldwide has been saved by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith in a computer in the Vatican. Chick's works contained so many errors, half-truths, and misinterpretations about the Catholic Church that it was simply impossible to refute them all. A conscientious refutation of all of Chick's claims would require several books.

Among others, the Hindu American Foundation threw Chick Publications prior to spread hate propaganda against Hindus, Catholics, Muslims and others, what made treatises as Last Rites - When this Catholic this, he learns did his church Could not save him ( "last rites - if this Catholic dies, he will notice that his church could not save him ”), The Little Bride - protect children against being recruited as Muslims. Li'l Susy explains that only Jesus can save them ("The little bride - protects children from being converted to Islam. Little Susy explains that only Jesus can save them") and Allah Had No Son - The Allah of Islam is not the God of creation ("Allah had no son - the Allah of Islam is not the God of Creation").

The Chick Publications website is blocked in Singapore because, according to a court ruling against several distributors of the comics, its propaganda is likely to endanger the coexistence of Muslims and Christians and to spark hostility.
