The Chief Islander of Tristan da Cunha is the highest elected office on Tristan da Cunha , an equal part of the British Overseas Territory of St. Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha . He heads the Tristan da Cunha Island Council , the legislature . The administrator of Tristan da Cunha , on the other hand, is the appointed representative of the governor of the overseas territory and thus head of the executive branch .

The Chief Islander is elected for a three-year term.
