Chiesa di Nostra Signora di Bonaria

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The church Chiesa di Nostra Signora di Bonaria ( German  "Our Lady of Bonaria" ) is located about three kilometers southeast of Osilo on the summit of the 766 meter high Monte Tuffudesu in the province of Sassari in Sardinia .

The foundation stone for the original building was laid in 1450 as thanks for the end of the plague. The current building dates from the 17th century and is a monotonous hall church with an apse . It belongs to the medieval churches whose architecture is very solid and rudimentary.

The interior is a single nave. Many of the frescoes on the walls are not clearly visible due to weather conditions and the history of the church. A special feature that is difficult to find in other places is the stone seats in the choir, which date from the beginning of the construction of the church.

The Basilica of Our Lady of Bonaria of the same name is in Cagliari .

Thanks to the location, the cartographer Alberto La Marmora placed one of his trigonometric points on the church roof.
