Chimakonde

Chimakonde , also simply Makonde , other names Chinimakonde, Konde, Matambe, Matambwe, Mekwengo , is the language of the Bantu ethnic Makonde in southeastern Tanzania and northeastern Mozambique .

Chimakonde is a central Bantu language and is spoken by around 350,000 people in Mozambique in the Cabo Delgado province , and in Tanzania mainly on the Makonde plateau in the Mtwara region . The number of speakers in Tanzania is likely to be just under 1 million. Is most closely related to Makonde Language with the language Yao predominantly in Malawi resident Wayao .

The written language uses the Latin alphabet .
