Ulldecona is a municipality in southeastern Catalonia in Spain .
Ulldecona is one of the two southernmost municipalities of the Comarca (district) Montsià , the province of Tarragona and all of Catalonia.
In 2008 the community had 6987 inhabitants. The agriculture, particularly olives , almonds and Karoben and marble - quarry in the Serra de Godall form the largest industry.
Toponymy
In Sicilian related services geographer Abu Abd Allah Muhammad al-Idrisi mentions the name Ulldeconas in the period before the Reconquista than Kuna . After the Reconquista, the variants Ulcona , Vallichonae , Vayl de Cona , Uldeconam , Vallis de Chona , Ulldechone , Vallimona and Valle Chona are documented. The place name, which was already used in Arabic times, lived on in the Romansh version as the "Valley of Kūna ".

Attractions
Worth seeing in Ulldecona are the castle of the Moors War on a hill, the town church, some old mills, old olive trees , ruins of the Iberians , and smaller churches in the area. The relatively uninhabited landscape of the area and the Serra del Montsià , highest peak 764 meters, are also a magnet for tourists.
The ordeal of Jesus Christ is re- enacted annually in the Orfeó del Montsià as La Passió d'Ulldecona . All actors are simple people in the village.
Ulldecona has the oldest known olive tree that is over 1700 years old.
