Chimonobambusa brevinoda is a type of bamboo from the genus Chimonobambusa with 2 to 3 meter high stalks and 13 to 16 centimeter long blade blades. The range of the species is in China .

description

Chimonobambusa brevinoda is persistent and forms leptomorphic rhizomes . The woody stalks reach a height of 2 to 3 meters and a diameter of about 1 centimeter. The internodes are almost completely marrowed, dark green and 7 to 8 inches long. They are round or square in cross-section, initially fine and hairy white and have a brown or dark purple felty ring under each knot. The nodes are thickened, downy hairy and form aerial roots . Three or more horizontal side branches are formed for each bud. The straw sheaths are longer than the internodes, paper-like, bristly hairy and have a ciliate edge. They do not form auricles . The ligule is small and ciliate. The blade of the stalk is subulate and only about 1 millimeter long. Three to five leaves are formed per branch. The leaf sheaths are about 3.5 inches long and bare. The bristles at the end of the vagina (oral setae) are purple in color, bristly and about 13 millimeters long. The ligule is entire and about 1 millimeter long. The leaf blade is paper-like, dark green and gray-green, lanceolate, 13 to 16 centimeters long and about 1 centimeter wide and pointed. Both leaf sides are bare, the leaf margin is rough. The leaf blade base is wedge-shaped. Six to eight pairs of nerves are formed per leaf. Inflorescences are not known.

New shoots grow in October.

Distribution and ecology

The natural range of the species lies in China in the southeast of the province Yunnan . There the species grows in deciduous forests at altitudes of 1600 to 1800 meters.
