China Everbright Bank Limited is one of twelve listed banks in the People's Republic of China . It was ranked 141st largest public company in 2018 by Forbes Global 2000 . The sister company Everbright Securities came in 1381st place. With total assets of US $ 628 billion , the bank was ranked 49th among financial institutions worldwide in 2017. The bank is part of the Shanghai Stock Exchange 50 Index . The bank is mainly active in the private and corporate customer business and is partly controlled by the Chinese state.
Shareholders
The China Everbright Group and its subsidiaries held a 27.9 7% stake in the bank. Everbright Group's parent company, Central Huijin Investment , directly held 21.96% as the bank's second largest shareholder. In addition, the Everbright Group directors proposed by Central Huijin Investment have also been appointed as directors of the bank (under the State Council's shareholders' agreement). Central Huijin Investment and the China Everbright Group are the intermediate parent of the bank. The ultimate parent company is the China Investment Corporation , which is overseen by the State Council of the People's Republic of China.
