The band Chingon ( Mexican Spanish for “cool”, “cool” or “strong guy!”) Was founded by director and screenwriter Robert Rodriguez ( Desperado , Sometime in Mexico , Sin City ). The band consists of members of the Austin Music Community and members of the Spanish rock band Del Castillo. Among others: Carl Thiel, Rafael Gayol and Cecilio Ruiz. Robert Rodriguez changes his area of ​​expertise and plays guitar in the band.

Originally founded for the soundtrack of Sometime in Mexico, the formation has reunited for the soundtrack of the El-Mariachi trilogy Mexico and Mariachis . The songs Cukarocka and Siente mi Amor (vocals by Salma Hayek ) come from the soundtrack to Sometime in Mexico . Another song, Malagueña salerosa , is a re-arrangement of a classic mariachi standard that Rodriguez originally conceived for the film Desperados - it later found its place in Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill - Volume 2 . A first studio album called Mexican Spaghetti Western was created in 2004.
