Chino Masako

Chino Masako ( Japanese 茅 野 雅子 ; maiden name: Masuda Masako ( 増 田 雅子 ); born May 6, 1880 in the Doshō district, Osaka ; † September 2, 1946 ) was a Japanese poet.

Life

From 1900 she participated in the "Society for New Poetry" ( 新 詩社 , Shinshisha ) and published articles in the literary magazine Myōjō . Chino studied German at Nihon Joshi Daigaku and taught there as a professor after studying in Europe. She was married to the Germanist and translator Chino Shōshō and became known as a poet herself. With Yosano Akiko and Yamakawa Tomiko , she published the volume of poems Koigoromo ( 恋 衣 ) in 1905 . She participated along with Kitahara Hakushū , Yoshii Isamu andIshikawa Takuboku at Subaru magazine and published Tanka and essays in women's magazines such as the magazine " Blue Stockings " ( 青 鞜 , Seitō ).
