Chira Ratanarat

Chira Ratanarat ( Thai จิ ระ รัตนะ รัต ; born June 3, 1940 ) is a Thai automotive engineer and manager. He is the CEO of The Siam Chemicals Public Company (SCC) .

Professional life and work

Siam Chemicals

After completing a degree in automotive engineering at the University of Stuttgart , Chira Ratanarat became Managing Director of Siam Chemicals Public Company (SCC). The company was founded by his father to produce basic chemicals such as sulfuric acid , hydrochloric acid , various bases and salts on a large scale for the Thai industry.

Chira Ratanarat modernized the company that now manufactures and sells various chemicals, fertilizers and lubricants. The company is one of the largest lubricant manufacturers in Thailand. It produces 5 million liters of lubricants per month with 65 different brands, with the plan to double production to 10 million liters per year by 2016.

Safe flying service

He is also the managing director of Safe Flying Service SFS Aviation , which conducts helicopter flights on water and on land and offers manufacturer-authorized maintenance work for AgustaWestland helicopters.

Radio controlled vehicles

Ratanarat is one of the pioneers in the field of radio-controlled vehicles in Thailand. For more than 20 years he has been intensively involved in radio-controlled model car races and hosted two events of the R / C Car World Championship in Thailand. He later focused on model airplanes and acquired the first two jet engines in 1995. He advises the Thai army on the construction and use of unmanned aerial vehicles ("drones").

family

He married Khunying Thongtip Ratanarat ( คุณหญิง ทอง ทิพ รัตนะ รัต ; * 1942) in 1969 and has three sons with her: Tisanu Ratanarat ( ทิ ษ ณุ รัตนะ รัต ; * 1974), Sichart Ratanarat ( ศิ ชาติรัตนะ รัต ; * 1976) and Porapong Ratanarat ( พร พงศ์ รัตนะ รัต ; * 1982).

Honors

Chira Ratanarat received the German Federal Cross of Merit in recognition of his professional relationships with Germany.

He received the 1st Class Honor Award from King Hassan II of Morocco .

He is an honorary member of the Alumni Network of the University of Stuttgart, an award for academics who have a special relationship with the University of Stuttgart.
