The Siam Chemicals Public Co. Ltd. (SCC; Thai บริษัท สยาม เฆ มี จำกัด (มหาชน) , RTGS Borisat Sayam Khemi Chamkat (Mahachon) ) produces and sells chemicals, artificial fertilizers and lubricants and manufactures large-scale basic chemicals such as sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid as well as various bases and salts for the Thai industry.

history

The company was founded as The Siam Chemicals Company Limited in 1959 by Chang Ratanarat ( จ่าง รัตนะ รัต ) and a group of scientists, engineers and business people. Chang Ratanarat had previously studied in Germany and had the vision of making Thailand independent of the import of important chemicals, basic products and basic materials. He wanted to become the first Thai manufacturer of sulfuric acid and artificial fertilizers and started producing sulfuric acid in 1960.

A modern plant for the mass production of sulfuric acid was completed in 1966. It was the first plant in Southeast Asia to operate using the double contact method . Other chemical products were nitrous oxide and alum . The Siam Chemicals Company Limited was the first chemical plant in Thailand to produce artificial fertilizers in 1968, which was sold under the brand name Three Nagas . The construction of the wharf 5C on the Chao Phraya River was completed in 1971 and developed with warehouses and a tank farm. As the first Thai company to produce lubricating oil for the Petroleum Authority of Thailand (PTT) from 1983.

The company was registered as a public company in 1994 with an authorized capital of 200 million baht . It is headed by Chira Ratanarat , the son of the company founder, after he had completed an automotive engineering degree in Stuttgart . The capital quickly quadrupled to 800 million baht by 2009. From 1995 there was a tank farm for loading liquids from ships onto trucks, in which fuel and solvents could be stored and filled into barrels for overland transport. From 1996 it acted as a certified oil importer with oil in an exclusive cooperation with National Petroleum of Kuwait Plc and Hyundai Global Oil Co., Korea . In 1997 the group's chemical analysis laboratory was registered with the Ministry of Industry to analyze wastewater and pollutants dissolved in water and to offer these services to other companies in Samut Prakan . A CNC machining center was installed in 2009 to produce custom-made spare parts.

For January 2010, the authorized capital of the SCC was given as 800 million Baht. The S-Chem Group in 2010 by Siam Fine Chemicals Co. Ltd, SFS Aviation Co., Ltd., Southern Oxygen Co. Ltd., ChiraTech Maxima Research Group and the Phoenix Petroleum Co., Ltd. founded as a group of companies under a joint management. The industrial application of research results was implemented on an industrial scale from 2012, e.g. B. in the construction, commissioning and operation of mixing plants with which oils and lubricants can be produced. The research focuses on ethanol fuels, ethanol lubricants and the engine modifications required for them.

The oil business was expanded in 2013. The company is now one of Thailand's largest lubricant manufacturers. It produces 5 million liters per month of more than 60 branded products with the plan to double the amount to 10 million liters by 2016.

The Southern Oxygen Company Ltd. (SOC)

Southern Oxygen Company Ltd. was founded in Thung Song in 1966 with a registered capital of 2 million baht and now has a registered capital of 50 million baht. It produces oxygen for industrial applications in southern Thailand. It produces a variety of gases for hospitals and medical applications, including oxygen, argon , nitrous oxide , nitrogen and tetrafluoroethane as refrigerants for air conditioning and fills them into gas cylinders . It has acquired land in Nakhon Si Thammarat and Surat Thani and produces synthetic fertilizers on a large scale in Phayao Province .
