Thongtip Ratanarat

Khunying Thongtip Ratanarat ( Thai คุณหญิง ทอง ทิพ รัตนะ รัต ; * June 24, 1942 ) is a Thai chemical engineer . She is a board member of The Siam Fine Chemicals and the Petroleum Institute of Thailand .

Life

After completing her chemical engineering degree, Thongtip Ratanarat became a Research Assistant at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch , New Zealand . When she returned to Thailand, she became a lecturer in chemical engineering at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok . She received an honorary doctorate in applied geophysics from Chiang Mai University in 2005 . She also received an honorary doctorate in chemical engineering from Kasetsart University for her work in 2013 .

From 1985 to 2005 she was Executive Director of the Petroleum Institute of Thailand . She then worked as a consultant for the PTT Public Company . She is a board member of The Siam Fine Chemicals . She was a judge on the Platts Global Energy Awards in 2004, 2011 and 2013. In 2013 she chaired the Rayong Oil Pollution Investigation Committee . She is also a member of the National Board of Directors of the Chulabhorn Research Institute in Bangkok.

In her spare time she makes music as a singer and has already sung for King Bhumibol's Au Saw Friday Band .

She is a sister of Thongchat Hongladarom, the first managing director of the PTT Public Company when it was still a state company.

She married Chira Ratanarat ( จิระ รัตนะ รัต), who is now the managing director of The Siam Chemicals Public Company (SCC) , in 1969 and has three sons with him: Tisanu Ratanarat ( ทิ ษ ณุ รัตนะ รัต ; * 1974), Sichart Ratanarat ( ศิ ชาติ รัตนะ รัต ; * 1976) and Porapong Ratanarat ( พร พงศ์ รัตนะ รัต ; * 1982).
