Chiyayoc is a small village in northwest Argentina . It belongs to the department of Iruya in the province of Salta . The place is located at an altitude of 3,100 m, 4 km east of San Juan and 9 km north of Iruya .

Chiyayoc belongs to Finca el Potrero and has a school (escuela N ° 4345) with about 30 students. The village lives from agriculture and tourism. It can be reached on foot in around six hours from Iruya.

The name Chiyayoc comes from Quechua and means Chiyagua area . It refers to a plant called Chiyagua that grows in the area.
