Rodeo Colanzulí , usually simply called Colanzulí , is a village in northwestern Argentina . It is located 19 km south of the village of Iruya and 3 km south of the village of Pueblo Viejo and belongs to the department of Iruya in the province of Salta . Rodeo Colanzulí consists of the districts of Colanzulí , Río Grande and Campo Carreras , which are connected to one another by the unpaved road Ruta Provincial 165-S . Near Rodeo Colanzulí is the 5000 meter high Cerro Morado mountain .

Rodeo Colanzulí has ​​about 300 inhabitants and belongs to Finca Santiago , the first community estate in Argentina. The village has an infirmary in the Río Grande district and a neighborhood center. In the district of Campo Tapial there is a primary school with overnight accommodation for children from more distant places.

Rodeo Colanzulí lives mainly from agriculture. Around 120 hectares of land are built on, around 50 percent of which is fallow every year.

The name "Colanzuli" comes from Quechua and means something like "place of the violet stones".

There is a bus connection between Rodeo Colanzulí and Iruya via Ruta Provincial 133 . The bus stops at the Pie de la Cuesta (location: 22 ° 51 ′  S , 65 ° 14 ′  W ) and Abra Colorada (location: 22 ° 53 ′  S , 65 ° 15 ′  W ). You can walk to the village from Iruya in around four hours.
