There is no webbing between the metatarsi of the 4th and 5th toes. Precoracoid and clavicle are absent.
Occurrence
The genus occurs only in New Guinea .
Systematics
The genus Choerophryne was first described by Pieter Nicolaas van Kampen in 1914. 18 species of the genus Albericus Burton & Zweifel, 1995 merged with the genus Choerophryne in 2015 . Molecular genetic studies had shown a paraphyly of the two genera. Together with 2 species newly described in 2015, 3 species described in 2017 and 2 species from 2018, the genus comprises 36 species:
As of July 4, 2018
- Choerophryne allisoni Richards and Burton, 2003
- Choerophryne alpestris (Kraus, 2010)
