Nalendra Monastery
The Nalendra Monastery ( Tib. Na len dra dgon pa ) is a major monastery of the Sakya -School of Tibetan Buddhism . It is located in Lhündrub County of Lhasa in Tibet , People's Republic of China . It was founded in 1436 near the south bank of the Phenpo River ('phan po chu') north of Lhasa. Its founders were the great Sakya master Rongtön Shecha Kunrig ( T. rong ston shes bya kun rig) (1367–1449) and his disciple Kunkhyen Trashi Namgyel ( T. kun mkhyen bkra shis rnam rgyal). It was the seat of the Nalendrapa, a sub-school of the Sakya School.
The two most important lines of reincarnated lamas are the line of the Cobgyed Trichen Rinpoches or Chogye Trichen Rinpoches (bco brgyad khri chen rin po che) and the line of the Zimog Rinpoches (gzim 'og rin po che):
The monastery is on the list of monuments of the Tibet Autonomous Region .
