Rongtön Shecha Kunrig ( tib . Rong ston shes bya kun rig ; * 1367 ; † 1449 ) also known Rongtön Shakya Gyeltshen ( rong ston SHAKYA rgyal mtshan ) or Rongtön Mawe Sengge ( rong ston smra ba'i scorching ge ) was an important spiritual dignitaries Sakya School of Tibetan Buddhism . He is considered to be the incarnation of Maitreya . He was a student of Yagthrug Sangye Pel ( g.yag phrug sangs rgyas dpal ; 1350-1414) or Yagthrug for short. Shakya Chogden and Gorampa Sönam Sengge are among Rongtön Shecha Kunrig's students .

In 1435 he founded the Nalendra ( na len dra dgon pa ) monastery in the north of Lhasa in the Phenpo ( 'phan po ) area , one of the most important monasteries of the Sakya school.
