Chong Kumdan (also Chong Kumdan I or Chong Kumdang Ri ) is a 7071  m high mountain in the Rimo Muztagh , a part of the Karakoram .

Location and characteristics

The Chong Kumdan is located 5.85 km north of the Mamostong Kangri in India and 4.19 km east of the Chong Kumdan II , near the disputed border with Pakistan . The mountain is flanked to the north by the Middle and to the south by the Southern Chong Kumdan Glacier , both of which flow in an easterly direction.

Ascent history

Chong Kumdan I was first climbed on August 4, 1991 by Dave Wilkinson, John Porter, Bill Church and Neil McAdie. These were members of an expedition led by Harish Kapadia , which climbed other mountains and peaks in the Rimo Muztagh.
