Choo Choo Bop is a compilation - album of the music label Buffalo Bop Records . The album is a compilation of "train songs" from rockabilly.

"Choo Choo Bop" comprises a total of 31 titles, all of which deal with the topic of railways. The railroad motif is deeply rooted in US musical culture. Legends of railroad workers such as Casey Jones ( The Ballad of Casey Jones ), Henry Whitters Wreck of the Old 97 or John Henry ( John Henry, The Steel-Drivin 'Man ) caught on in early country music called Old-Timey . During the development of country the railroad appeared as a motif again and again, as for example in cowboy and western music as well as in the late 1940s in country boogie ; especially the Delmore Brothers used this theme in many of their songs ( Freight Train Boogie , Pan American Boogie , Red Ball To Natchez ). And the motif was taken up again in rockabilly: 1955 by Elvis with Mystery Train and in Folsom Prison Blues and by Hey Porter , both pieces by Johnny Cash (who is also represented on the CD with the latter and Blue Train ).

However, most of the tracks on the album were recorded at a later date (around 1956 to 1964). Some famous artists on the CD besides Johnny Cash are Bill Haley , Harold Jenkins (aka Conway Twitty ) or Bill Mack .

In 2004 the follow-up CD Rock-a-Billy Choo Choo was released.
