This was the nucleus of chorus 116. history

After Christian Hauschild returned from Helsinki to Dresden in 2006, former members met by the school choir of the Cross School in December 2005 in the Church of St. Mary on the water in the district Hosterwitz to the Christmas Oratorio by Johann Sebastian Bach perform. Under Hauschild, a repertoire of sacred and secular choral music from the Renaissance to contemporary compositions was developed.

After Hauschild's death in 2010, Milko Kersten , professor of ensemble lessons at the Dresden University of Music , took over the direction of the choir. A little later, Chorus 116 was one of the most important Saxon amateur choirs.
