Christine Dreier

Christine Dreier (also Chris Dreier ) (born June 25, 1961 in Wuppertal ) is a German musician and artist . As a photographer, she mainly works with the pinhole camera .

life and work

From 1981 to 1982 Dreier was the first female member of the Berlin artist group Die Tödliche Doris . From 1983 she studied art with Wolfgang Müller and Nikolaus Utermöhlen at the HdK Berlin under Wolfgang Ramsbott and graduated in 1987 as a master class student. She lives in Berlin today.

In the 1980s, Dreier was active in various project spaces in the subcultural music and art scene of Kreuzber in what was then West Berlin . In 1985 she toured German cities with the Super 8 film program Auf Wandering by Wolfgang Müller. These included S-8 films from “Die Tödliche Doris”, which are now in the Hamburger Bahnhof's collection , and the S-8 film Sporty Shadows - Art in Times of Crisis by Tabea Blumenschein with Udo Kier from 1979. In 1987, films by Dreier shown in the official Super 8 document 8 program, which was curated by Martin Schmitz . Exhibitions of her photographs, picture objects and installations took place in galleries in Germany and abroad. For Michael Brynntrup's monumental Super 8 Jesus film, she shot the part “Die Tödliche Doris” in Egypt in 1985 “The Immaculate Conception”.

Dreier has been working with Irish artist Gary Farrelly since 2015 on the founding of the Office for Joint Administrative Intelligence OJAI, its musical offshoot Dexia Defunct ( Musique concrète ) and on sound projects with the artist Ursula Döbereiner ( noise music) and the musician Frank Lohmeyer.
