from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Chris Glaser (born October 3, 1950 ) is an American theologian , clergyman and author .

After completing school, Glaser studied at Yale University and received a Master of Divinity in 1977 . After completing his university education, Glaser served as director of the Lazarus Project, an organization between the Presbyterian Church (USA) and the LGBT community.

From 1976 to 1977 Glaser was a member of the task force assigned by the Presbyterian Church to prepare a report on homosexuality; Already at this point Glaser was openly gay . The rejection of the final report of the task force report by the Presbyterian Church meant for Glaser that he could not be ordained a pastor, although he was allowed to continue to serve as a congregation elder or presbyter.

On November 1, 2006, Glaser was appointed pastor of the "Christ Covenant" congregation in the Metropolitan Community Church (MCC) in San Francisco , having previously served as the interim pastor of an MCC congregation in Decatur, Georgia .
